The Society Pages

As we draw close to the end of another year, I would like to reflect on what has changed in our society.
And what has not changed at all.

On the left are pieces from various newspapers.  I put the equivalent on the right.  Also, I do not apologize for my use of pun names whatsoever.  So click on the picture and enjoy perusing the Society Pages!

Merry Christmas!

This is a drawing I did for our Uncle who loves HAM radio.

Happiest of Christmases to you and yours!

Karaoke Christmas

I've never seen an Ugly Sweater Party
I hope to never see one...
But I can tell you, me harty,
I'd rather see than be in one.

And that concludes my horrifying parody on Ogden Nash.  I wish it concluded Ugly Sweaters...

Bureaucracy vs Big Business

Part two of the cookie dough wars.
Dad may be a bureaucrat, but Mom is Big Business.  She makes the dough, she takes the dough.

Effective Theft-Prevention Devices

This goes out to all of you Christmas cookie makers out there who try with admirable effort to maintain proper cookie dough levels so as to have the correct output for presents and treats for loved ones.
No cookie dough was harmed in the making of this comic.  I can't guarantee complete theft-prevention through the use of this method.

Iris Fairies

Over a year ago my goddaughter was born and this past June her mother asked me to draw a fairy picture to hang in her room.  It only took about six months, but at last here it is, ready to be shipped off!
The beautiful young ladies are my nieces who kindly posed to look as though one was telling a story and the other two listening.  The irises I drew came from the fairy-models' grandmother who dug them up and gave them to me a few years ago.  Little did I know that they, and the young ladies who likely helped her dig them up, would be a subject in a drawing!  Quite cyclical.

Please don't use this or any of my images for commercial or personal use.  Contact me for permissions.

Making Up for the Holidays

The amount of times that I have mascara running or my hair attacking the sky or my shoes mismatched and NO ONE HAS TOLD ME is quite a high number.

I can NOT for the life of me do a Pinterest project without serious mayhem or sadness or crying or bizarre fuzzy things stuck to my hair all day.

Have Yourself a Not So Early Christmas

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm usually the one who decorates the house so thoroughly that it looks like an elf exploded inside-out and bled tinsel on the windowpanes.  But sometimes you need to let the turkey settle in your stomach first.

Fleece Weather Problems

I shed on my husband's fleece coat merely to mark my territory.  It has nothing to do with stress or many children or the fact that I steal his fleece and wear it more than my own.  Honestly...

Powdered Sugar

Dear Dom is rather like my own three-year old who would just as readily believe that God should be Mummy-fearing instead of the other way around.

In the heat of battle, it's easy as a parent to scream the wrong name.  Screaming colors makes things infinitely easier.

Turkey and Cheek

(Big head nod to Neil Hurlbut, without whom I would never have thought of the atrocity that is TURKEY bacon.)

Weapons of Mouse Destruction

(No cats were harmed in the drawing of this comic, nor does the creator of the comic wish harm on any animal.  I cannot speak for the Mouse Mob, however.)

Hi, I'm not here right now...

...but if you would ONLY leave your name and number, I might call you back.  In a few years...when I'm done listening to your message.

If it fits, I sips

Don't try to be smart at your spouse before coffee.  Just don't.
